Oneida Indian Nation (OIN)

The Oneida Indian Nation is Oneida County's largest employer, and recently celebrating their 25th Anniversary. The Oneida's have been mentioned to be part of the County Executive's U District concept, whereby Downtown Utica would have a casino. The "Oneidas" are also mentioned within the Downtown Utica hospital #emailgate scandal, see page 35.

July 19, 2018 - No true plan for AUD parking, yet Lots Of Concepts For Proposed Buildings, even a casino! The hospital saga started three years ago Talking Of A 34-acre Concept, yet only showed the public a 12.5 acre plot. While very nice work by the OIN at Turning Stone, their downtown effort is off to a VERY VERY BAD start.

Utica doesn't need a 5th hospital district and with Turning Stone so close, downtown does not need a casino!

January 15, 2018 - With far too many potholed roads, ever increasingly high taxes, and a 47% childhood poverty rate, we agree Downtown Utica would not served well by a casino...

Oneida County and Madison County had a longstanding battle with the Oneida Indian Nation, this article from 2011 speaks of a lawsuit...
