October 12, 2016 -
Each time #NoHospitalDowntown looks to find facts, the reasons for supporting the politically-backed downtown hospital, we find troubling information like this. Hammes is the "engineering company" that studied the site selection work done by Mohawk Valley EDGE; they studied the costs of a new hospital at the St. Luke's campus vs. "going downtown", they then confirmed that the downtown site could work as costs were comparable.
July 8, 2019 - Auction at Seakan's today... Nothing to do with "healthcare" improvements or logical spending of $300M on hospital assets we have today. Just watch the consultant's video (starting minute 24:00), a video produced by #HammesCompany hired by #MVEDGE.
Hammes Company is owned by an ultra-rich guy who designs; medical offices, hospitals, and sports stadiums, his advice...
(1) Hospitals should get out of owning their real estate and buildings to become renters, and
(2) Set-up Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) whereby wealth individuals (like him) can make "above average returns" on their money.
MVHS will try to create a new entity to own the hospitals (St. Elizabeth's & Faxton-St. Luke's) after they're merged into one (in some cities a corporate authority is created to manage a large medical district). MVHS would remain a separate "real estate holding” firm that would handle the rental income, sale of St. Luke's 64 afters (after taxpayers fund demolition of old buildings), and the fate of real estate at the other campuses too.
Downtown gets destroyed, but the tiny Board at MVHS doesn't care - they have huge homes in the suburbs and are often at other vacation homes far away form their proposed inner-city hospital district with 80,000+ ER visits, 373 sick and injured people laying in downtown beds, with grieving loved ones, the 18-wheelers hauling in supplies, street-level helicopter pad, the traffic and congestion and 3,000 parked cars.
Of course the MVHS board doesn’t mind the extra cost in taxes to pay for a hospital parking garage and parking fees, as they have multiple ways of making the money back. For example...
1. One building, like the Brodock Building, are actually owned by the Oneida County Industrial Development agency and is probably avoiding taxes and fees.
2. Another board member owns a restaurant who's Greek food delivery van can be seen dropping of hospital meals.
3. Another board member has a paper/commercial products Distribution Business, with perhaps a contract with a hospital?
What other deals could fall into your pockets if you controlled operations of $600M annually in hospital income? The spending surrounding a billion dollar construction project and the fate of old hospital sites?
Looking at them, all I can think is it's must be great to be rich and not have morals

How can @HammesCompany state this to @HealthNYGov? ....as they attempt to support the @MVHealthSystem #HospitalOfCards in @CityofUtica #inaccurate and #misleading! How about "falsify documents"? pic.twitter.com/rSacJJA9d0

Perhaps someone in Albany didn't care for our post, our honest reporting?
March. 15, 2018 - Hammes says progress, in press release titled, Hammes Company and Mohawk Valley Health System making strides toward new downtown hospital
October 13, 2016 - Where are Hammes' figures, what were their motivation? Watch their video titled Real Estate 101 for Healthcare Executives Does Hammes care about the Mohawk Valley Health Care situation, or financing and the ROI of health care facilities for their clients?
Watch the video (fast forward to minute 24:00), so telling as Hammes states, "Don't limit your real estate options to sites with For Sale signs on them", Real Estate 101 for Healthcare Executives...
Who are prospective landlord(s) for proposed Downtown Utica Hospital? https://t.co/Wb3mbWzyew Hey @MVHealthSystem how's financing looking?

Has Albany's corruption taken root here in Utica? Or did it start in Utica, and then travel to Albany?
Two years out, and no improvements to Oneida County Health Care Facilities! Actually, most headlines suggest our healthcare system (Palumbo case, ER, Pediatrics, Nurses strike, etc.) are in pretty questionable shape. And as far as project management goes, their new hospital situation is cause for GREAT alarm.

Mohawk Valley Health Systems hired Hammes two years ago to help plan new hospital. It appears they would leverage $300 million from the taxpayers, but little has happened. Meanwhile 41 businesses are are getting pushed away from their downtown Columbia Lafayette Street Neighborhood
Hammes not engineering, designer, but finance firm; advise, buy, sell & owner of health care facilities. What a GREAT start, $300 million pic.twitter.com/lE6UzjF0Le
